St Peter’s Music Festival
We are delighted to open our 2025 Arts and the Faith series with the inaugural St Peter’s Music Festival!
Friday 27th June
7 pm
The Festival opens with a performance of one of the most extraordinary pieces to come out of the sixteenth century: Orlando di Lasso’s Lagrime di San Petro, a setting of Latin poems in which St Peter confronts his grief at his denial of Christ. This highly personal and intense music will be accompanied by a specially-commissioned series of images by chorister and photographer Louisa Billeter.
Saturday 28th June
5 pm
Music for two choirs, brass and organ, featuring the choirs of St Peter’s and Trinity College Melbourne, resident organist Rhys Arvidson, and a brass octet.
Tickets for both performances are available here: $30, or $50 to attend both. Students are eligible for a 50% discount!
Sunday 29th June
10.30 am
Our Patronal Festival High Mass will premier the newly-commissioned Mass for St Peter, written for St Peter’s Eastern Hill by English composer and organ virtuoso David Goode. This joyful setting of the Mass is for choir, organ, strings and trumpets.
Our celebration will conclude with Festal Evensong and Benediction at 5 pm.
