Weddings at St Peter’s
Weddings
Weddings are events of celebration and great joy, and also provide the opportunity for contemplation, promise and commitment, as you celebrate the beginning of your lives together and your solemn and joyful vows to each other.
We would be delighted to welcome you and your family and friends to our beautiful historic church for this special day in your lives.
The process
Please contact the Parish Administrator to check availability of the church for your preferred date. (Please note that as Sunday is our principal day of worship, there are constraints to the availability both of the church and of priests – Sundays may be suitable only for a very small and simple ceremony.)
Once your wedding has been booked, you will meet with the priest who will be taking your wedding. For a wedding in an Anglican church, the celebrant must be an Anglican priest, licensed and registered to perform marriages by the Diocese of Melbourne using an Anglican form. Normally, this will be one of our parish clergy.
You will then meet with your celebrant to plan your ceremony. You will also have the opportunity to meet with our organist who will discuss music with you. (Please note, music for a wedding is always under the direction of our organist, whose fee is included in the basic composite fee – see below.)
The ceremony
You are free to choose music and readings, and we will be happy to work with you to plan a ceremony that reflects who you are – it can be as simple or as lavish as you like. However, we are required by law to use the Anglican form of marriage and vows.
The costs
To get married at St Peter’s, you will need to pay a basic composite fee of $2,400. This includes the use of the church, and the services of the priest, the organist and the verger, all of whom are required for the ceremony. This fee includes a non-refundable deposit of $400 paid when you make a firm booking at the beginning of the process.
